Two people have died and dozens more have fallen ill after a global outbreak of listeriosis linked to cheese sales.
Consumers have been warned about eating potentially contaminated products, as health officials have reported that the cheese may have been sold in more than 30 countries.
Health officials have recalled a potentially deadly soft cheese after two deaths in the listeriosis outbreak.
In France, where the two deceased people lived, 21 people also became seriously ill between December 2024 and August 13, 2025. Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway have also confirmed a total of four cases between April 14 and July 9.
There are concerns that the infection may have spread to the UK, although no cases have been officially reported there at the time of writing.
According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), a contaminated soft cheese made from pasteurized cow's milk and goat's milk, produced by the French manufacturer Chavegrand, is linked to the outbreak.
